Festival of Football 2026

Saturday 23rd May will be our 4th finals event of the festival. We have already had the Saturday Youth, Roy Wade and Lord Wavertree on 9th May. The I-Zingari on 13th May and this week on 22nd May will see the finals of the George Mahon and the Friday night Youth. A lot of hard work and effort by volunteers committed to providing opportunity for people to participate in football throughout the city. We need your co-operation to ensure these days are a success for all involved.

On Saturday 23rd May there will be 19 cup finals – 38 teams – match officials and volunteers various. Most teams attended the pre-finals meeting on Thursday 14th May but here are the salient points.

Car Parking

Each team will be provided with 4 passes for the LCFA Sefton car park. We have managed to extend the capacity of the car park for the day. Nobody will be allowed access to the Car Park without a valid pass.

Newfield School at the top of Drummond Road will be available on a first come first served basis. Parking on Edge Lane will likely incur tickets and/or towing away by Police.

NOBODY MUST PARK ON DRUMMOND ROAD under any circumstances. This must remain clear for the day to allow emergency access if required.

Entry

Entry to the Playing Fields will be via the side entrance to the left of the main Building. The cost will be £3 per adult or £5 per family. You will receive a wristband on entry which will allow entry/re-entry for refreshments and toilets etc.

Each wristband will have a unique number thereon which will be entered into a Prize Draw at the end of the day. Results will be posted on the website on 24th May.

Match Rules

All matches will go straight to penalties. No extra time. All 11v11 games will have a referee and 2 assistant referees. On arrival you must provide the FAFULLTIME Squad sheet to the League Official and the opposition. No sheet = No game.

Presentations

Presentations will take place on the balcony overlooking the car park. Supporters should gather below the balcony on the grassy bank to cheer and take pictures etc.

For all games there will be runners up medals so both teams should make their way to the Presentation area as quickly after the game as possible.

THERE MUST BE NO FLARES/FIREWORKS for safety reasons. Any Team setting off flares will be fined by the League.

Catering

The Shankly Burger van will be on site all day as well as a snacks /drinks offering provided by the County FA staff. Please do not bring your own alcohol

Note – if any player cannot be photographed please make us aware as we do intend to show photos on the website.

The league is affiliated to the Liverpool County FA and is open to all regardless of age, ability, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or socio-economic status.
